About

Meet Jocelyn, aka Joyce, a Latina Editor who is navigating the world of media. Her love for media arts started at a young age. As the second eldest of five siblings born to Latino parents who migrated from Mexico. English isn’t her first language. This language barrier made it difficult for her to communicate with her peers. So, to break the barrier, she turned to movies and TV shows, watching content in both Spanish and English. She loved cinema and analyzing movies but never thought about pursuing a career in film. As a first-generation Latina mujer, she pursued a B.A. in Print and Online Journalism at San Francisco State University, developing a passion for video editing, where she became the Multimedia Editor of her college newspaper, The Golden Gate Xpress. Joyce grew her passion for video editing at the Bayview Hunters Point Center for Arts & Technology internship program. With her experience at BAYCAT, she was able to apply her video editing skills as an assistant editor at Goodby Silverstein & Partners by creating both broadcast and social media ads. Her experience working at an advertising agency and later becoming a freelance video assistant editor allowed her to work with clients such as Adobe, MasterClass, Sony, BMW, Panera Bread, Golden State Warriors, Frito Lay, Comcast, San Francisco Giants, Idorsia, and more. She is now looking to pursue more video editing roles that would help expand her horizon in media and film.
